Lamar County School District COVID-19 Update - March 15, 2020
This afternoon, Superintendent Herron met with Principals, Board of Education staff, CNP, and Transportation to discuss information from Alabama State Superintendent, Dr. Eric Mackey. Due to absences being excused Monday - Wednesday, it would be in our best interest as a district to close beginning tomorrow, Monday, March 16, 2020. At this time, students will not report for classes until Monday, April 6, 2020.
Schools will be open tomorrow from the hours of 8:00am - 11:00am. If your child needs to pick-up items from their lockers, they may do so during this time. Nurses will be in their offices during this time if your child has medications on file. No medication will be distributed to a student, an adult must be present to pick up their medication.
Teachers may come on campus tomorrow if they wish to clean their classroom or pick-up any items they may need. We ask that you do not come back to campus after tomorrow so that the campus has no risk of contamination.
Employees will be paid on Wednesday, March 18, 2020. Those that still receive printed checks may pick them up at the Board of Education between the hours of 8:00am - 11:00am. If they are not picked up, they will be mailed.
There are to be no extracurricular activities to include, but not limited to, practices, weightlifting, games, performances, plays, or conferences. No student should be on campus during this break. The break will only be successful if everyone will stay home.
