Lamar County Board of Education Announcements

  • COVID GUIDANCE

The Lamar County School District will closely adhere to the guidance of the ADPH and CDC to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, faculty, and staff.

Beginning September 2nd, 2021, with the guidance of the ADPH, The Lamar County School nurses will not contact trace. We will leave that to the ADPH. We will focus on COVID-positive students and their family members at our schools. If a student or staff member tests positive we will report this to the ADPH per the COVID Report Card, and the positive person and any immediate family members (living in the same household) that are on campus would be asked to isolate themselves from campus for 10 days. If they are symptom-free after 10 days, then they can return to campus. Students and staff who are vaccinated or have had COVID within the last 3 months and remain symptom-free will not have to isolate themselves if they live in the home with a COVID-positive student.

School nurses will be available to accept medications and to review your child’s health plans with you between the hours of 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday, August 17 through Thursday, August 20.  We ask that you go to your child’s school campus, stay in your vehicle, call the school office, and one of our nurses will give you further instructions. Please have your healthcare provider fill out the School Medication Prescribed / Parent Authorization Form if needed.

    Parents of students,
If you or someone in your family has tested positive, are experiencing symptoms, or have come in contact with someone who has tested positive, we ask that you do not come on school campus or send your child to school or school activities.  Call your school office, and they will give you instructions on how to collect your child’s assignments.
