Lamar County Vocational School was erected in 1978 as part of a nation wide effort to focus on training high school students in the skills necessary to be productive citizens in the American workforce. Though the last forty years there has been various departments come and go. The school was renamed Lamar County School of Technology to emphasize the movement of career skills toward a more technological pathway. At present LCST has five departments of training: Automotive, Cosmetology, Healthcare, Machining, and Welding. LCST strives to prepare each student in the specific skills needed to function in a 21st century workforce.
