Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Jody McDaniel

Hi! My name is Jody Hankins McDaniel. I teach 6th grade math at Vernon Intermediate School. I grew up here in Vernon and graduated from Lamar County High School in 1988. I attended Mississippi University for Women and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1992. I continued my college education at Auburn University and received a Master’s of Education degree. I then earned by Education Specialist Degree from Troy State University while teaching first grade in Russell County, AL. After moving back closer to home, I obtained National Board Certification while teaching first grade at Aberdeen Elementary School. Soon after, I moved back to the Lamar County School District to teach 5th grade at Vernon Elementary School. While here in Vernon, I have also enjoyed teaching 2nd grade and now 6th grade math.

I am married to Freddy McDaniel, and we have one daughter, Anna Kate. She will graduate from Mississippi University for Women in 2022 with a B.S. Degree in nursing. I cheer, “Let’s go Owls, War Eagle, and Go Dawgs!” While teaching is my professional passion, I also love cooking, relaxing in our pool at home, spending time with family, and attending church at Mt. Olive Church of Christ.
